Girls Basketball Camp Programs
2020 Schedule for older girls 9 and up ( For girls 6 - 8 see "Co-ed 6 - 8 Year Olds")
August 4 - 8: Girls-only program, ages 9 - 13 of all abilities, in White Plains.
July 7 - Aug. 1: 4 Separate one-week sessions in White Plains. No girls-only divisions, but experienced female players may sign up and test their skills against the boys. Three co-ed divisions, grades 4 & 5; 6 & 7; 8 - 10.
Philosophy of the Program
MVP's final week, August 4 - 8, provides the opportunity for girls of all abilities ages 9 - 13 to have their own division for game play, contests, and development of basketball fundamentals.
How the Girls Group is Organized
On Monday of the August 4 week, balanced teams will be created for competitive play in a girls-only 9 - 13 division. Each team will have a blend of more and less experienced players so everyone will find good match-ups in game situations. During skill development segments the girls will sometimes be separated into two groups based on age and ability so that coaches can provide instruction at the appropriate level..
Experienced female players may sign up and play with the boys during any of our weeks from July 7 - Aug. 1 in White Plains. Determination on placement will be made the first Monday of each week. Last year we typically had about one female player per team in our 9 - 10 and 11-12 age groups, plus a few in the 13 - 16 age group. Over the years, MVP has been the local day camp of choice for some of the top high school female players in the county.
